Lois Virginia Harris Russell, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Lois, a native of Halifax County, was the daughter of the late Samuel Dolphus and Mary Estelle Bland Harris. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Thompson Harris and her brother, Sam Harris, Jr.

Lois loved her family dearly and she also loved bowling and bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph ''Joe'' Russell, Sr.; her daughter, Debbie K. Sanders and her husband, Ricky; three sons, Joseph ''Jay'' Russell, Jr. and his wife, Glenda, Michael Wayne Russell and his wife, Hazel, and Timothy Eugene Russell, all of Roanoke Rapids; her sisters, Mary Louise Harris of Gaston, Darlene Wolgemuth of Roanoke Rapids; brothers, Bill Harris and his wife, Kathy, and Danny Harris and his wife, Rose, both of Roanoke Rapids; thirteen grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; favorite uncle and aunt, Alfred Harris and his wife, Joyce of Hopewell, Virginia; special niece Cindy Thompson Aycue of Wendell and Best friend Margaret Bilsky of Latta, SC.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Minister Dave Chapman officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the family home.
